John A. Pattee, 96, Long-time Curran Resident Dies

John A. Pattee, a long-time resident of Mitchell Township passed away at 2:00 p. m. Friday, December 2, at the home of his son, Merton Pattee. He had suffered a stroke two days prior to his death.
Mr. Pattee had observed his 96th birthday on October 24 of this year. He was born in 1853 in Argentine, Michigan, the son of Charles and Lydia Pattee, pioneer Michigan residents. He studied law at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for two years, and was married at that time, in 1888, to Ida F. Phelps. The couple came to Curran from Ann Arbor. The Pattees have been active in community affairs throughout their long residence in Curran. Mr. Pattee was well known as a member of the Board of Supervisors on which he served for eleven years. He operated a farm in Mitchell Township near Curran.
Mrs. Pattee survives her husband, as do five children, three daughters and two sons: Roland and Merton of Curran; Mrs. Bert LaForge, Mrs. Earl Greene and Mrs. Ralph Reeves, all of Curran. One brother, Fred Pattee, of Cottage Grove, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Mae Atherton of Winter Park, Florida, thirty grandchildren and fifty great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral rites were held at two o'clock Monday afternoon from the Curran Methodist Church. Rev. George F. Burlew of the Curran and Glennie Methodist Churches, officiated and burial took place in the Curran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Byron LaForge, Ronald LaForge, Oramel Greene, Ralph Reeves-jr., Vance Reeves and Eugene Carroll.
